There are so many hidden treasures to be found on the Greek islands, from secluded sandy beaches to authentic Greek comfort food served in a taverna tucked away from busy cobbled streets. For me it’s visiting the small boutique shops and discovering new fashion labels. I love to shop for accessories and clothes from known or -better yet -emerging Greek designers who catch the absolute essence of summer and island life through their designs and collections. This is how I came across Tikto, a new and fresh fashion label by talented emerging Greek designer Katerina Chatzichristou. Her modest debut last summer, caused murmurs of excitement to ripple through fashionistas and style obsessed holidaymakers. Now with the presentation of her SS17 collection coming up, we are about to become even more impressed with her signature use of colourful patterned facings and panels over high quality cotton jersey fabrics. Today, Tikto is not only sold around 36 points of sale in Greece but they can also be found in prominent shops in Cyprus, Monaco and Riyadh.
During difficult economic and arduous times for Greece, Katerina realised, at 37 years old, that she needed to turn her career around in order to pursue her calling in fashion design.
“Despite the challenges and the uncertainty I had to face as a 37-year old mother of two small children in an economically broken Country, I wanted to follow my dream and my passion. So, I used passion as my driving force and I attended private lessons in sewing patterns followed by a fashion design course in Athens.”
Two years later and the Tikto collection of cover-ups, flowy dresses and tops elegantly combines traditional Greek patterns with modern design and body conscious comfort featured by its high quality Italian and French soft cotton fabrics.
“For the SS17 collection, we are working on a very strong social media campaign and we are adding more flowy evening dresses as we found those have been our most popular items! We are currently also working on the design of our eShop through our website www.tiktoathens.com , which will be launched in spring 2017. Worldwide shipment will be available.”
