Summer has officially started for me. I arrived at Paros last week and I will be staying here for a whole month. There are many reasons why I summer in Paros every year and they are not just limited to the beautiful sandy beaches, friendly locals, wild nature, fresh homegrown produce and interesting little shops that sell an impressive collection of Greek designer jewellery and clothing. What I love about this island is Naoussa, a small picturesque fishing village which anchors as a hub for quaint gastronomic restaurants, clothes and furniture shops and hosts the island’s characteristic nightlife. But, what I love most about Paros is how Naoussa comes to life at night and so do the sun kissed and relaxed holidaymakers who walk around and get lost in its quaint white cobbled streets.
If you are looking for a bar which is set on the tiny fishing harbour right by the sea that serves great cocktails and has friendly service then head to Salty. It is by no coincidence that since last year when it first opened its doors, it has become Naoussa’s number one hotspot and my favourite hang out. This is the place where the Greek recognisable and sexy crowd of who-is-who meets from early evening to watch the sunset till the early hours of the morning accompanied by the uplifting musical selections of Gogo Loco, DJ veteran of numerous Athenian hot and historical night clubs.
Dimitris Loukisas, the co-owner and manager of Salty is there every night to meet and greet new and old Salty-nians and after midnight when the music goes up and the drinks start flowing a little more freely, you may find him behind the bar pouring “sfinakia” – shots- for the after hour patrons.
When you’re there ask Salty’s Barman Yiorgos to make you their signature Cocktail drink Salty Dog, it is amazing!
